My academic orientation (AO) held on 6th-15th of September 2016. Basically, the normal one to attend in FEP is GO, AO, CLO respectively. But for me, i did my AO before my GO because of a little problem in payment cause I a little bit late to pay the fee. The activities in AO was like simulation for actual college’s learning. So, I was actually study according to the course subject. From this orientation I could know how we actually learning in class at college and it was very different from high school.
6th September 2016 :
This is the first day of AO also my first day in college. There were four sessions with the same courses “computer science”. So, for four sessions long I studied about computer science and honestly it was kinda boring and tiring. The lecturer explained to us about what exactly will we learn in information technology. And they also taught us about the material. It wasn’t as hard as the regular class but still kinda difficult knowing i was newbie in information technology.
8th September 2016 :
The second day of AO began. There were only two sessions from 1.20-5.00 p.m and again all the courses was computer science. Same as before we studied computer science such as algorithm, programming language, etc. It wasn’t as tiring as the previous day cause it was only two sessions.
9th September 2016 :
Third day of AO. The courses started at 1.2o-5.00 p.m (2 sessions) about the curriculum. The lecturer explained to us about all of the courses we will do in a semester and also told us about the activities each semester such as, we should choose a selection course that we want to study in the third semester. The course that we chose will started in the fourth semester. For me it is still confusing to choose the course.
10th September 2016 :
This was the fourth day of AO and also two sessions from 7.20-11.00 a.m. The course was GSLC. GSLC is Guide Self Learning Class. So we don’t need to come to the university and just study from binus maya. Because the regular class had not start yet, there was no learning activity but, that didn’t mean i chilled at home. Information technology organisation called HIMTI (Himpunan Teknik Informatika) organize an event for new colleger. The event was called HTTP. Here was my experience attending HTTP.
13th-14th September 2016 :
Third and fourth day of AO, same as usual, there were two computer science sessions and the algorithm and it’s friends continue.
15th September 2016 :
Finally, the last day of academic orientation. There were 3 sessions and the first session was computer science. The second session called “academic advisory”. This session told us about advisory that student can ask for academic problem. It was very helpful for me. The last session at 3.20-5.00 p.m was about “Support Center for Your Success”. The lecturer informed us about universities facilities that can help students when we have problems. The facilities are SSC (Student Service Center) if we have financial problem, library to study and do the assignments, also SADC for students who want to take courses and consultation.
